My goal is to bring quality guitar instruction to students of all skill levels.
Testimonials:
In just a short time, Willie helped me make significant progress on the classical guitar, and I am constantly amazed at how much I have learned ... His teaching approach begins with understanding the student's current level and then he develops from there. I highly recommend Willie to anyone looking to learn classical guitar." — Abhishek, student "...he is patient, passionate, and has excellent communication skills. As a musician, he is an excellent guitar and lute player, as well as an expert in music theory. I would highly recommend him as a music teacher and I hope to work with him again in the future!" — Adrianne, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra violinist, violin teacher |
"He was very lovely to work with; courteous, reliable, understanding, and communicative. His playing was absolutely gorgeous ... I would be happy to work with him again."

The Studio:
I teach in-person lessons to students in Trondheim, Norway and online lessons to students anywhere else via the magic of the internet. My teaching highlights a flexible approach to technique and musicality and caters to individual musical goals. If you don't live in Trondheim, don't worry! Online teaching can now be just as good as in-person lessons. Read more about my online studio policies here and about my unique, four-camera online teaching set-up here. Students don't need any special technology for online lessons: a regular computer, tablet, or smartphone will do. I teach beginning to advanced guitar students. I also teach piano, music theory, and lute lessons on a case-by-case basis. My approach is suitable for students age 5-6 through adults, and I customize my approach to meet students' individual needs. Let's get started! |
MusicalityBecoming a complete musician, not just an instrumentalist.
Discovering new musical interests. Experiencing different musical eras and styles. |
TechniqueFinding proper posture and playing position.
Developing right and left hand techniques. Understanding the ergonomics of your chosen instrument. |
TheoryReading notes and rhythms.
Learning the vocabulary of written music. Understanding the 'why' and 'how' of music theory. |
